Our first level is suitable for those who want to improve sound insulation in a good way without a high degree of insulation being critical. This can be, for example, step sound or to reduce the noise from the neighbor next door. Using fiberglass in combination with our sound damping clips will normally reduce noise by 20-30dB, which in many cases will be sufficient to solve the problem. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We would like to point out that the effect of sound insulation depends on several factors, such as<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- \n
- Leakage points<\/strong>: Windows, ventilation, doors, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Flank noise<\/strong>: Noise transmitted through other surfaces in the building, such as floors, walls and ceilings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- The rigidity of the construction<\/strong>: How well the building carries and dampens noise.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
This means that it is not possible to provide an exact reduction in noise before and after measures, even with our most advanced systems. However, our solutions are specified with: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

- Rw<\/strong>: Attenuation of airborne noise.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- L’n,w<\/strong>: Reduction of vibration noise.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
Both values are specified for each type of surface (wall, ceiling, floor) and the sum of them will affect the end result, which is measured according to Norwegian standard 8175. It is worth noting that lower frequencies are more difficult to isolate, and the lower the frequency you want to attenuate, the more extensive measures will be required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\n\n\nIf you’re unsure where the noise problem lies or how your current solution is working, consider a professional measurement. We measure: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

- Airborne noise (DnT,w)<\/strong>: Corresponds to Rw, but takes into account real conditions such as leaks and the acoustics of the room.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Vibration noise (L’n,w)<\/strong>: Detects noise that is transmitted via vibrations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
The measurements are performed with class 1 reference equipment and the results are presented in a standardized report according to Norwegian standard 8175.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While such measurements provide valuable insights, they can be costly. That’s why we often recommend prioritizing action over measurement, especially if it’s obvious that action needs to be taken. However, in larger projects or where you are unsure whether the noise is airborne or vibration-based, a measurement can still be useful. For example, if you have a lot of vibration noise, it may be a good idea to brace the joists, which is often recommended anyway. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remember that you can always upgrade to the next level if you are not satisfied with the result. At level 2, another layer of fiberglass plaster with GreenGlue damping compound is installed between the layers. In addition, a sound door is added, while level 3 includes 2 layers of fiberboard with GreenGlue also on the other side of the wall, a stronger sound door and active, separate ventilation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also remember that the dB scale is logarithmic, which means that a 3dB difference constitutes a doubling and thus 34dB -> 59dB constitutes almost 8x better insulation.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Calculation of materials<\/h1>\n\n\n\n
This calculator calculates your estimated material consumption based on the room dimensions you enter. You enter the room dimensions in meters, e.g. 6.4m (length), 4.5m (width) and 2.5m (height).
